untitled reverie (written while listening to a piece by Vivaldi)

with wings of sound to soar
so sweetly toward the moon
drawn by violin strings
and the willow’s long osiers
your hair against the light and swaying
clouds weeping diamonds
through the heavens turn and turn
within the ambit of the window
the glass dances crystal steps
against the chill beyond    the night
through the breach shamelessly peering
to see two eagles falling
in the midst of light and shadow
in tight gyres descending
wind and song enlaced
then slowly parting
to dream their private dreams
