senryu – on Obama’s getting Congress’ okay for attacking Syria

so you get their Yes:
your attack’s still unlawful
and spings from base guile

simple assertion (for Lan)

before I met you
I was like an empty glass
then you filled me
with your simple elegance
with your beauty

from that moment I’ve been alive
in a long   pleasing   joyous state
may it never end   this intemperance
of gracefulness
of blessings   of love

on the road, dining alone – a memory

at the table set with fine linen
the rose in the vase and I
supped together in silence
the candle too was burning
just as I burn for you

in my true rose’s company
I wished so much to dine
but  put simply  it just could not be
the fine food took on
a blander mundane taste

but the candle burned
more brightly through the gloom
the rose in its ceramic vase
filled my yearning senses
with its perfume and its beauty

so rich with life   summer   joy
too soon  sere and wan

haiku – weeding the garden

worm in weed cluster
released it wiggles away
happy: worm and I
