discourse on a gray day

time is a metaphor for dying
it’s a waterwheel driven
by our expended lives
a spring that propels
the engines that despoil the spirit
it’s like straw tossed in the fire
how brightly it burns
how somber once the flash is gone
oh biting metaphor    may I pluck out
with these poor words of mine
those fangs of yours so sharp  so fierce

  1. We think so much about time because we have a limited amount of it. Yes, it is about dying, but I guess, also about living as much as possible. *hugs*

  2. Thanks for your comment – I agree totally; I was simply trying to capture the mood of the day, mirrored in the circumstances in which my wife and I find ourselves. But love will bring us through all things…
