je suis – et c’est tout qu’il faut savoir

blasphemous satire:
real freedom of expression…
but “touch not our truth”
shout many ‘true believers’
once they see their sacred cow
led to certain verbal slaughter;
“ours was decreed by heaven”
is one version heard a lot;
“the founders declared it so
for all time” is another.
more insidious is the case
made by that old standby ‘natural law’.
[please note it is ‘law’, not science.]
It’s said old Voltaire quipped,
“I disagree with what you say, but
I will defend to the death your right
to say it.”  But We can do better still–
let’s end the fighting and the murder.
