fallen from the stars

dearest friend!  the gifts I proffer you
seek no reward    they are like my poems:
affectionate free verses
little treasures of a man
sent to his companion
who’s fallen from the stars

But to me  your humble servant
you have given fire to my thoughts
and fire to my soul
because of you I cannot rest
I can only dream
about your beauty and your sweetness
about your mind and your goodness

as I pass the night awake
caught in steaming reveries
roiled
by fire in my thoughts
and by the fire in my soul…

again I say to you:
my dearest friend
the gifts I proffer you
seek no reward…
that you let me know you:
that for me is enough

haikai no renga – keeping in mind the candidate’s history

H. Clinton has said
she has no ‘conflicts of interest’
though I’m not so sure –
no doubt though: she’s conflicted
over interest in truth

Trump says he could shoot
someone and not lose one vote –
the victim no doubt
Ted, Marco – or M. Kelly –
H. Clinton or B. Sanders
