moonset at sunrise

bright and brighter still
dawn   with light   fills the heavens
snuffing out the moon

late March day, watching the sky

gray clouds racing white
under wind’s lash: storm’s wild steeds
darkness mixed with light

up before sunrise

dawn’s diffusing light
unmasks the night face of things
beauty warts and all

watching Lyra’s children

flecks scattering light
fall swiftly through the night sky
like dreams gone awry

whiteout or inside the storm

every snow crystal
refracts any light anew
love made manifest

the paradox of knowing

light within shadows
darkness hidden in the dawn
though blind we still see

foreboding

when I don’t see you I live as if blind
without light   without colors
oh dearest clarity   you are my dawn
the quadrant of my every hour
the dusk of all my days
my restless moon    the star
that guides me on the path to joy
when I see you  you dazzle me
like that diurnal light
that shamelessly strips away
arrays of ruddy clouds
in summer’s early morning
but not seeing you  I’ll live as if blind
without light    without colors
