night storm

bushes: stooped shadows—
FLASH, as from a camera—
far off thunder, rain

stormy night

spry lightning bolts waltz
through the livid western sky
– feel the wind’s envy –
yet I dream of your dark eyes
gleaming in ten thousand stars

storm

wild winds churn dark clouds
rain pelts trees  roof  windows  walls
flash then thunder’s boom
hearts crave and ache   dearest love
as a life comes crashing down

tempest

I am the night sky
arrayed in simple clouds
and rain of dark crystal
but you   you are the lightning flash
that fills me with blazing light
and the unheard sound of pure song
then you leave me once more
filled only with myself
but the storm never ends
in my breast beats
the endless thunder
the thunder of your yes
the thunder of your no
thunder   thunder

enigma

wind and rain and light
that flashes through clouds at night
forlorn moods bring blooms

recalling that night so long ago (for Lan)

on this night of honey  your skin shines
with the light of a thousand suns
your grace  like lightning
reveals hidden places of longing
like the stars  your eyes
fill the heavens with sighs
torrid searching rain is your every kiss
this heart of mine
before this coarser than a toad
is now become a prince

night   grim gray-toned clouds
sudden flashes   thunderclaps
sky’s hammer and voice
